Hello! Thanks so much for visiting my website. This is the "short" story of how I became a commercial real estate photographer.
I am a self taught electronics wiz kid. I've always loved taking things apart, seeing how they worked, and if I was lucky, getting a few of those things back together. After high school in West De Pere, I attended a year of college at UW Madison for Electrical Engineering. Quickly discovering that I didn't have the discipline to hit the books away from Mom and Dad, I decided to join the Marine Corps to see what the military life was all about.
I chose a job that complimented my love of electronics, avionics; which is repairing the electrical systems of various types of aircraft. After four years in this country and one year in Iraq, I was honorably discharged and decided to go to school and learn to fly planes. Fixing airplanes was a neat job, but they are much more fun to fly.
After receiving my commercial pilot’s license, my wife and I had our first little baby girl. I decided that I needed a career that would keep me close to this wonderful family we were building.
Aerial photography was recommended as a possible alternative by my sister-in-law. My father was the first dedicated photographer of Airborne Photography LLC, and I was the company pilot. After 50 runs or so, I was recognized as a valuable asset to the largest real estate company in Green Bay and was offered a job as their photographer. I realized that I needed to learn a thing or two about photography or they would figure out that I was just a pilot.
Given the responsibility of photographing the homes while being hired on the side for the aerial work, I made my first large camera purchase. The Pro Camera was a little complicated for my father who also knew nothing about photography. I spent more time watching him to ensure that pictures were being taken correctly, and began to pay less and less attention flying the plane. Needless to say, that couldn't go on much longer, so I started hiring some of my friends to fly me around. From that point on I became a professional photographer.
After taking a few courses in art and photography, I was on my way. My knowledge has increased by leaps and bounds thanks to all of the professionals in the area that have been happy to take me under their wings. I still absorb all the knowledge I can, from whereever I can get it.
In the summer of 2007 I left the real estate company and secured my first commercial studio which is located on 2201 South Oneida Street, just a few blocks down from the Bay Park Square mall. I now work freely under subcontracts for a large number of real estate agents, from several different companies in Green Bay, Appleton, and the surrounding areas.
My talents have been noticed by many commercial companies. I've worked with Harley-Davidson, North Face, Noodles and Company, Boston's Pizza, and the Oneida Nation Casinos to name a few. My client list and experience continue to grow. I'm also currently attending UW Green Bay to complete my Business Management and Marketing Degrees. I look forward to tomorrow and everything yet to come.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to getting to know you, soon!
